That distinct and energetic electronic music starts, a massive stone explodes on the seashore, and a nimble figure leaps into the sky, somersaulting straight into the clouds. This is where countless Chinese children's dreams began. This monkey, born from a stone, isn't satisfied with being the king of the Flower-Fruit Mountain. He dares to break into the Dragon King's palace, steal the Ruyi Golden Cudgel, and wreak havoc in the Heavenly Court. He is unyielding, even daring to call himself the "Great Sage Equaling Heaven" in front of the gods and Buddhas. However, the five hundred years of solitude under the Five Elements Mountain mellowed his anger but did not extinguish his spirit. When that compassionate yet somewhat stubborn Tang Monk passes by, a long journey spanning tens of thousands of miles begins. Along the way, there are not only the Bone Spirit's myriad transformations and the Daughter Country's tender, flowing love, but also those cunning demons and monsters hiding deep in the mountains. The four masters and disciples have very different personalities: one is an obstinate monk seeking the Dharma, one is an invincible warrior, one is a gluttonous and lustful fool, and one is a hardworking, patient laborer. Their conflicts are even more exciting than the magical battles.

With today's rapidly advancing special effects technology, looking back at this work shot with only one camera, you are still shocked by that extreme craftsmanship. Teacher Liu Xiao Ling Tong's performance can no longer be described as acting; he is like the monkey itself. Every flicker of his eyes, every detail of his scratching his ears and cheek, is filled with the interweaving of wildness and divinity. Director Yang Jie is more like a magical magician. In that era of scarce funding and backward technology, she led the crew to travel across most of China. Using real-life shots, she gave this mythological drama a real vitality. What moves me the most is the exploration of human nature in the film. Tang Monk's momentary hesitation and affectionate eyes when facing the Daughter Country's queen make this monk no longer a cold Buddha statue but a flesh-and-blood person. And that avant-garde "Yun Gong Xun Yin" actually blends electronic music and folk music so seamlessly. It still makes people's blood boil when heard today. This is not just a mythological drama; it is a journey of persistence, faith, and growth. No matter when you watch it, that spirit of not being afraid of difficulties and forging ahead will always bring people the purest power. The enduring legacy of *Journey to the West* comes from its dedication, its portrayal of flawed characters who are also icons. What strikes me is the incredible struggle of its creation. The one-camera approach, the limited technology, and the vast landscapes they had to work with—it's truly inspiring. And the music! Xu Jingqing's fusion of electronic and traditional sounds is still groundbreaking. This is a story about the Monkey King's spirit, about resilience, and ultimately, it's a testament to the power of a good story.
