It doesn't have flashy filters or cheap special effects, it is full of the smell of earth and the stench of blood. That sense of realism will actually make you feel a chill down your spine. Wu Yue's portrayal of Di Yun truly brings to life the feeling of shattering, from innocence to heartbreak, to rebirth. He is not a great hero born with a halo, he is just an ordinary person repeatedly twisted by fate. And Shu Chang's Shui Sheng is like the only warmth after a heavy snow, their sense of redemption is especially precious in that broken world. What's most amazing is the gallery of villains in this drama. Du Zhiguo, Ji Chunhua, Yu Chenghui – when these veteran actors stand there, the greed and viciousness in their bones can't be hidden. They don't play paper-thin bad guys, they're playing real, existing demons whose souls have been corroded by desire.
