Thinking about the review, I can't get over how authentic this feels. This isn't your typical "Red Movie". Director He Wei is smart; he uses the kids' perspectives to really drive that sense of suspense, that feeling of dread, but also the hope. That's what this film really captures. The tension is palpable. The way they capture the children's faces, the actors' performances… it’s brilliant. It's not a heavy-handed propaganda piece. They're just kids. And I'm really intrigued to see Eric Tsang's part in this film. He’s such a strong presence, and in this setting, it's just really interesting. And, of course, the sacrifice, how can you not mention the sacrifice that Ouyang Min gives? It really pulls you in. It's a thriller, in some ways, but also just incredibly touching.
