It doesn't have the flashy special effects of today's blockbusters, relying instead on a solid script and character tension to hold the audience. The detective Qi Wuming, played by Ji Chenmu, has a clear gaze that sees through the world. His maneuvering and strategic play within various powers and forces, and that contest of intelligence, is more exciting than any action scene. What surprises me most is its deconstruction of the locked-room murder. It's not just playing with solving the mystery. Instead it weighs human nature on the scales of power. The tragedies of twenty years ago intertwine, and that sense of fate is exaggerated to the extreme. If you like the suspense of unraveling clues layer by layer or have a particular fondness for the impossible crimes in classical deduction, then this "Soul-Lost Cloud Fragrance Pavilion" is definitely worth your time to sit down and follow the detective's steps to unravel that thick fog. I think the review needs to be analytical and passionate. The focus should be on that classic trope, and Ji Chenmu's performance. Also, it’s got that atmosphere from those early 2000s Chinese mysteries, that old-school Chinese mystery vibe. I need to mention the pacing and the layers of truth I see in it. This has potential.
