It starts with a blue jumpsuit, a bucket of industrial-strength disinfectant, and a scrub brush. Heiko Schotte, or Schotty as he is known, begins his work. People call him the Crime Scene Cleaner, a job that sends shivers down the spine. After the police leave and the caution tape is removed, the remaining blood, odors, and disturbing remnants of life are his responsibility. But Schotty isn't your brooding ascetic; he's an ordinary uncle full of dry humor, even a bit shrewd. In the second season, his cleaning sites become absurd little theaters. He carries a bucket of water into rooms where the scent of death has yet to dissipate, but he always encounters living people who are more of a headache than the corpse. Sometimes, he must face a fading star in a living room where the blood has yet to dry, and all they care about is how their press release will turn out. Other times, he has to listen to shocking gossip behind a family tragedy while cleaning up broken glass. Each site is a mirror, reflecting not the deceased's regrets but the living's greed, hypocrisy, and the dirt beneath the gleaming surface. Schotty is like a philosopher who has gone astray, scrubbing the floor with all his might while using the most venomous words to expose the world's false prosperity.

If most detective dramas are about solving the "who is the killer" mystery, this drama dissects the proposition of "what is a human." It has a typical German sense of humor, crisp and clean, without unnecessary frills, but it gives you an unexpected philosophical blow at every turn. What I love most about this show is its sense of contrast. The bloodiest and heaviest setting is coupled with the most ordinary, even trivial conversations. The lead actor, Bjarne Mädel's performance is simply superb; he perfectly blends the sense of "I just want to finish my work and go watch the game" with a clear mind when facing the ugliness of human nature. This is not just a comedy that makes people laugh; it's more like a scalpel, precisely cutting open the tumors of modern society. Whether it is the media's bloodlust or the illusion of fame and fortune, they are all scrubbed away by the brush in Schotty's hand. After watching it, you'll find that the most difficult thing to clean up is never the bloodstains at the scene, but the filth in people's hearts. If you're tired of those deliberately sentimental or pretentious dramas, this short but powerful black comedy will undoubtedly make you want more.
