When watching this film, the most direct feeling is this overwhelming sense of "youthful" beauty. Chen Feiyu and Ouyang Nana's early youthfulness, scarcely needs acting to embellish; the innocence in their eyes and the awkwardness in their movements are the most authentic depiction of seventeen. Standing there, they embody an unfinished chapter of youth. Director Lian Yiqi is adept at capturing those subtle, elusive emotions. More than a grand narrative, this film is like a prose poem. It describes the pain called "secret". You'll find that everyone is lying, everyone is pretending, but behind these lies is a heart that is fragile and craves love. Especially worth mentioning are the colors and light in the film. That filter with a hint of mint cools and perfectly amplifies the summer atmosphere of the seaside town. Although the plot includes rather melodramatic elements, such as the falling out of best friends, and a student-teacher crush, the film is not handled noisily, but instead has a faint sadness. It's not just about love; it's more about growth. When all the secrets are laid bare in the sunlight, those hurdles that once seemed insurmountable ultimately turn into a wisp of breeze on the shoulders of the youth.
