I'm thinking, an opening that immediately puts the viewer into the atmosphere of that golden era. Maybe a golden sunset over Hollywood would be a good image to open the film with. It could set a tone. The plot's fairly straightforward: Young Bobby, played by Eisenberg, heads west from the Bronx, drawn to the promise of Hollywood. He's going to work for his powerful uncle Phil, and that's where he meets Vonnie. Now, Vonnie, played by Kristen Stewart, is the character that makes the audience want more, she's the one who sees past the glitz. The initial spark between Bobby and Vonnie needs to be palpable. And then, the twist: it's revealed that Phil is Vonnie's secret lover. This causes the inevitable heartbreak and sends Bobby back east. Back in New York, Bobby runs a club and marries Veronica. Years later, fate intervenes, and Phil and Vonnie show up at his club. The "what if" is the core of this film. It's Woody Allen's style, a little neurotic, a little philosophical, it's about the choices we make and the roads we don't take. I need to make sure I showcase the visuals – Vittorio Storaro's cinematography is beautiful – those golden hues, the jazz, the feeling of regret.

Now, I'm aiming for a synopsis, which will be a bit like a conversation with a friend. I want this to be conversational and enticing. The draft needs to flow. It’s like a bittersweet champagne, with a hint of regret. I’ll make sure to mention the performances: Jesse Eisenberg's Woody Allen surrogate, and Kristen Stewart's effortless charm. I'll need to remember the theme of "the road not taken". I want to avoid revealing the ending's emotional punch outright. A subtle hint of the yearning is best. And, I must ensure a smooth transition from the Hollywood dream to the New York jazz club scene.
