Most war dramas focus on vast battles. This one, however, is a precise scalpel, dissecting the era's raw, emotional core. The hero is the success of this film. Zhou Weiguo is a strong, even arrogant, lone wolf type. Wen Zhang really shines in this role. He captures Zhou Weiguo's pride and the bitterness of his loss. He does this through his fierce gaze. You can believe he can single-handedly change the course of a battle. It stood out at the time because of the unique special forces tactics. The espionage and assassination scenes felt very modern and visually stunning. This made it fast-paced. It shows how the elite becomes altered under pressure. It's more than just a symbol. The supporting characters, both his team members and his enemies, are complex and well-defined. The script is able to have romance and emotional depth, it keeps a balance. If you are looking for a war film, that is emotional and smart, this is a top film.
