Start with the high school setting, introduce the weirdness, hint at the slasher, but then hit them with the time travel and the end-of-the-world stuff. Key characters: Riley, the outcast; Clapton, the cool guy; and Ione, the cheerleader. And, of course, the detention room becomes the central location, the killer lurking about, and there's a time machine involved. It's got to be intriguing but not spoil anything. I have to build curiosity, not give everything away. Here's a first draft of the introduction: A killer with a bloody mask is running down the hall with a knife, but the high school students are arguing about their vintage shoes. This isn't your average slasher film. It's about a girl, Riley, an outcast with strange ideas. She's dealing with a crush and a falling out with a friend, and then a murder happens, and everyone is trapped in detention. The principal is like, solve this or you’re staying. Then, it just gets completely weird: discussions about music, a time machine in a locker, and an impending apocalypse. Riley goes back to the past to find the killer, and it gets crazy. It’s absurd, but there is some sense to it.

Now, for my take on the movie. This is where I can really show how I appreciate Kahn's style. Emphasize the frantic pace, the pop culture references, and that it's a "love it or hate it" kind of cult classic. I need to convey those metaphors – a blender of genres, a pop culture explosion. The focus needs to be on Joseph Kahn's background as a music video director. Every frame is like a visual bomb, with vivid colors and modern special effects. It's energetic, a bit crazy, and in your face. This movie is like a director with ADHD making a really fast movie, a crazy painting, where you don’t have time to think. It’s got a love-it-or-hate-it aspect. The director deconstructs and mocks clichés of horror, but has a heart. It’s a love letter to the '90s, a challenge to average movies. If you're bored, this will be perfect. It’s definitely a film that you either get or you don’t, but it makes you feel something.
