** It’s not just a jump-scare kind of film. It is a slow-burn psychological thriller. The mockumentary format, really, is used to perfect the approach of the film. The whole thing is shown through the perspective of a man who thinks he’s in control. The film goes from this sunny, confident opening to a claustrophobic, muddy finale. Ashley Bell's performance is incredibly powerful; the contortions were done for real. It brings a rawness that is quite disturbing. The film creates the question, is it mental illness, or is it supernatural? Then the answer gets too terrifying to ignore.
