Before that iconic crescent moon appeared on his forehead, he was just a black-faced youth who didn't follow the rules in the academy. This young man surnamed Bao, who seemed cynical on weekdays, but once he got close to those truths shrouded in mist, the sharpness in his eyes was enough to make the most cunning murderer tremble. He is always followed by two bosom friends with different personalities: one is Gongsun Ce, who is aloof and full of knowledge, and the other is Zhan Zhao, a martial arts prodigy and a clever little monk. This iron triangle combo shuttles between the court intrigues and the strange cases of the Jianghu, each step stepping on the edge of life and death. When the case reaches its climax, the truth is about to break out of its shell, he will always habitually scrutinize every detail, trying to tear open a ray of light in the seemingly perfect lie.

This is definitely the childhood shadow of countless people, but it is also the irreplaceable domestic suspense peak in everyone's hearts. Its most fascinating part is that it is not only about solving the case, but also about human nature. Bao Zheng, played by Zhou Jie, has shed the majesty of the altar and added a bit of youthful vigor and stubbornness. His almost obsessive pursuit of the truth, which is particularly precious against the backdrop of the unfathomable power of King Eight Virtues played by Chen Daoming. The case arrangement in the play is exquisite. Many bridges are still amazing even if you look at them twenty years later. As soon as the eerie soundtrack rings, the cold and oppressive atmosphere is instantly full, as if a pair of eyes are spying on you on the screen. But if you think this is just a scary horror movie, then you are completely wrong. The motives behind each murder often hide a tragedy that makes people sigh. This human warmth wrapped in extreme horror, and the discussion on the boundaries of justice and law, makes it surpass ordinary reasoning dramas and become a work of art that can withstand repeated washing by time. If you want to regain that thrilling, fast-thinking drama experience, watching this old drama again will definitely have a new shock.
