If Sherlock Holmes was born in a small town in China, and had a lazy medical examiner, and an assistant with a brilliant mind, then the style would probably run from London's suburbs to a Northeastern bathhouse. *Great Detective Huermosi* is just such a story that makes you laugh and cry. The protagonist, Hu-er, a self-proclaimed genius, exudes middle school syndrome, paired with a silly medical examiner, Mo-si, who makes people question his professional quality, plus a strong but simple-minded female assistant, Tie Huanhuan. This iron triangle is simply the mudslide of the detective world. They shuttle through the streets and alleys of Flower City. The crime scenes are not mysterious ancient castles, but steamy bathhouses, bustling theaters, and even mottled photo studios. Each case seems weird and bizarre, with a gloomy atmosphere, but as soon as these three masters appear, the atmosphere instantly switches from a suspense drama to a cross-talk special. Hu-er's presumptuous reasoning logic, Mo-si's forensic identification that always accurately hits the point of laughter, makes every case-solving process like dancing a two-person dance on the tip of a knife. The suspense is endless, and the jokes are one after another.

The most wonderful thing about this film is its serious nonsense. Director Guo Yunqi clearly knows how to deconstruct the classic detective routine. He completely breaks the tall image of a great detective and incorporates the fireworks of the life of the market and the grass-roots humor. Hu-er, played by Yang Yubin, has an overdone confidence, which in turn creates a wonderful contrast cuteness. Watching him pose in front of the camera, you won't feel embarrassed, but instead expect what kind of troubles he will make next time. Although it is a comedy, it has a surprisingly smooth rhythm, and the reversals of the case are often hidden in those seemingly absurd lines. It is like a stir-fried kidney in a food stall. The heat is sufficient, the taste is heavy, and although it is not so delicate, it is refreshing and neat to eat. If you are tired of those brain-burning and serious suspense films and want to give your brain a break, then this film is definitely the best side dish. It tells you in a self-deprecating way that the truth is important, but the laughter and scolding in life may be the most real background.
