剧情简介

It starts with this absolutely bonkers scene – the one everyone remembers: who would've thought that getting rid of stomach worms would involve swallowing live birds? It sounds like something out of a horror flick, but it's actually a vivid memory for a whole generation of Chinese kids from the 90s. This is the starting point. The film follows Zhao Xinxin, a fifth-grader who is obsessed with martial arts and not so keen on hygiene. He does a good deed on the bus, which sets off a very strange journey. He meets this "Strange Old Man" who seems to have an infinite bag of magic tricks. His house is like a portal. When Zhao Xinxin has bad stomach pains, the old man comes up with a ridiculously strange solution that Zhao Xinxin cannot refuse! What I want to get across is that it's more than just a series of odd events. The Old Man's home seems to defy the laws of physics. It makes you wonder if there’s a secret side to the world that we can’t see. What happens to Zhao Xinxin after he does this terrifying thing? Are those birds really just a bizarre treatment?

Now, the real kicker is that this isn't just a kids' show. It's really an amazing work of surrealism, disguised as a children's program. Forget your fancy animation, this film has an almost unsettling realism, it taps into childhood fears and curiosities. 尤磊 and the other directors use puppets to create this really intriguing balance between fantasy and reality. The "Strange Old Man" is a mix of all-knowing guardian and rule-breaking troublemaker. The genius of the film is that it doesn’t preach, but challenges societal norms through its bizarre humor.
