** Imagine a dusty, forgotten warehouse, and then these eyes – a feral glint mixed with the clarity of a watchful animal. This isn't the start of a horror flick, though. It’s a prelude to a love story, a promise kept across half a century. We’re introduced to Soon-yi, a girl weakened by illness, moving to the countryside for some quiet. She stumbles upon this… creature… in their barn. He's not human, really. He can’t speak. He eats like a wild beast. He can barely sit up straight. Soon-yi, at first repulsed, then curious, begins to "tame" him, like you would a puppy. She teaches him how to brush his teeth, tie his shoes, read. This boy, covered in filth, this untamed thing, slowly softens under the gentle strumming of her guitar. He becomes, in essence, a loyal guardian, tail wagging only for her. His name is Chul-soo, and he’s an experiment abandoned by the world, yet finds meaning in Soon-yi's embrace. But this fairy tale peace is doomed. Ji-tae, a wealthy man obsessed with Soon-yi, sees Chul-soo as a threat. He exploits human greed and the fear of the unknown to weave a web of violence. Pushed to the brink, with separation being the only way to protect her, Soon-yi is forced to say the cruelest words. And Chul-soo, this boy who only knows how to love clumsily, how does he face this encounter with an inevitable ending? **

** If there's such a thing as a love that defies time, it’s probably Chul-soo's love – a devotion bordering on the divine. Song Joong-ki relies almost entirely on his eyes and body to give life to this character. The trust and yearning in his gaze when he looks at Soon-yi – it’s like a lone wolf, ready to die for his master, so pure it's heartbreaking. And Park Bo-young brings a fresh delicacy that gives this slightly fantastical story emotional depth. The brilliance of the film lies in the contrast: the complexity, greed, and cruelty of human society are dwarfed by this speechless wolf-boy. Director Jo Sung-hee creates a retro, aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for a modern fairy tale about waiting and keeping promises. It’s not just about love; it’s about a loyalty that seems lost in our modern world. Be warned: it's a very emotional film. The reunion across decades, the shattering feeling of everything changed yet the original promise still held strong – it’s enough to make anyone jaded by today’s transient romances reconsider the meaning of a promise. It tells us that in this ever-changing world, there are those who'll cling to a simple word and, at the end of time, wait for a miracle that will never age.
