That's the ultimate temptation that the "Good Dream" VR system offers in this near-future world. No more facing the harsh realities of life, just close your eyes and win at life in a customized, beautiful dreamscape. But, you know, there's always a catch with a dream. Director Han Yan, in his latest work, really digs into the cracks of human desire. When the dream begins to consume reality, those who've become trapped in their little warm bubbles find themselves completely disconnected. The story itself has a very interesting starting point: Biao Ge, the system administrator, played by Wang Hedi. He's this guy who lives on the edge of the dream world, and yet, he's forced to wake up Captain Si Meng, who has been asleep for a long time. Si Meng's the only one who can save people from this sudden collapse. They're an unlikely pair - the carefree administrator and the calm, powerful executor - and they find themselves on a crazy adventure through different dream fragments. From a cyber wasteland to a paradise of pleasure, each dream level is like a meticulously designed maze. They must deal with system glitches and fight the twisted inner demons that arise in the dream. But, the most intense part of this rescue is that you never know if the next step will be the way out, or a deeper and more terrifying abyss.

Having just finished watching this film, the strongest feeling I'm left with is this sense of tension. Han Yan has this remarkable skill for capturing the emotions of ordinary people caught up in something larger, and in this one he goes to the boundary of "virtual reality," offering us a science fiction feel. It’s not just about visual spectacle, but a real question: if a dream is better than reality, do we even have the courage to wake up? Wang Hedi's performance is a real surprise this time around. He captures the cynical air of a person who is living in a gray area, but the underlying sense of justice is quite compelling. Song Qian, as Captain Si Meng, is the anchor of the whole movie. The calm, cool look in her eyes creates a dramatic chemistry with Biao Ge. The journey from mistrust to a strong relationship between them isn't forced at all; instead, it blooms like a flower breaking through the shattered dreams. The film keeps a very tight pace; there's really no filler. It doesn't fall into the trap of being preachy, and instead, through a series of fantastical dream fragments, it offers us a metaphor for the pressures of our own society.
